Welcome to the Victoria’s April news letter….looks
like we have a busy month ahead! |
|
What’s on this month at The Victoria? |
| |
|
Easter School Holidays (6th – 17th
April) |
|
|
During the school holidays we plan to run the
following madcap promotion! |
|
|
For every 2 course meal purchased from the A la
Carte menu we will throw in a FREE
main course from our children’s menu for
our younger diners. |
|
| Our
walled garden has had a spruce
up and is ready for action so bring them along
for a bite to eat... If the weather disappoints
then we have a board game or two to keep you amused. |
|
|
Richmond Park is always popular at this time of
year – the leaves are back on the trees
and the weather is looking up. Why not stop by
on your way to the park for a morning coffee and
a homemade chocolate brownie? We are open each
day from 8.30am apart from Sunday when we open
at 10am. |
|
Of
course any serious rambler knows that it’s
much better to have a treat waiting at the end
of a walk and The Victoria has a bar menu that
will truly satisfy even the keenest walker! We
welcome muddy boots and panting dogs at any time.
Check out our pub
food here. |
|
| Easter
Weekend |
|
We
will be open as normal on Good Friday and will
offer our brunch menu on the Saturday from 8.30
until 3pm. If you haven’t dropped in for
a brunch as yet then take a look at our Saturday
brunch menu here. |
|
On
Easter Sunday we shall be open from midday until
4pm serving a hearty roast amongst other dishes.
We will reopen at 6pm for dinner right through
until 10pm. |
|
| On Easter Monday we will
open at 12pm and stay open all day through until
8pm. Call to book your table. |

This
April The Victoria hits a high note with jazz
duo Katie Verner and Laurence Pendrous
joining the Team |
|
 |
Amazingly
talented Katie Verner trained at The Arts
Educational Schools, Tring and perfected
her art at The Doreen Bird College of Performing
Arts. Katie’s has appeared in Happy
Days the musical and was also part of the
original touring cast of Grease, playing
Patty Symcox and Rizzo. Since her fantastic
debut at The Victoria on New Year’s
Eve Katie has now joined forces with the
fabulous Laurence Pendrous to form a jazz
duo performing throughout South West London. |
| Laurence
is a music graduate from Oxford. Equally
at home in classical, jazz and pop, his
versatility has won him international acclaim,
playing for the likes of Princess Margaret
and Steven Sondheim and now The Victoria!
|
|
|
Make
sure to swing by and check out the Victoria on
Wednesday April 15th and 29th where Katie and
Laurence will be performing together from 7:45pm
-10:30pm. Their act will feature both golden oldies
such as Burt Bacharach, The Beatles, Louis Armstrong
and modern favourites from the likes of The Corrs,
Lee Ann Rhimes, and Norah Jones. Don’t be
afraid to request your favourite or even join
in for a tune or two! |
|
Notes
from the Kitchen |
|
| Well apparently British
summer time started on March 29th! Whose idea of
a joke is that! As far as my kitchen is concerned
it’s very definitely Spring for a few more
weeks. |
|
| This
month we shall be making the most of such delights
as Jersey royal potatoes, wild garlic and towards
the end of the month, with any luck, the first
of this year’s English Asparagus. Talking
of England... last month we knocked up a batch
of Irish stew on St Patrick’s night and
it proved a real hit, however one customer popped
in to the bar and asked for a word with the chef
(that will be me then!) and told me in no uncertain
terms that we should do a similar thing for St
George... So on Thursday 23rd pop in for steak
and kidney pie with boiled carrots and mashed
potato and if you’re lucky we’ll knock
up a bread and butter pudding too. |
|
| Now
here is an interesting pub fact – Richmond
is the most crime free borough in London and Sheen
is the most crime free ward in Richmond. Therefore
– how come we got our bloody barbeque nicked!?
I hope the culprit burns their fingers! Any way
our new one arrives any day now (along with a
chain and padlock!) so if the sun puts in an appearance,
call up and see if we are lighting the coals. |
|
Our
new Breakfast offering started a few days ago
and is proving a hit. Stop by any week day morning
for a bowl of fresh fruit with Greek yoghurt and
honey or try a plate of scrambled eggs with toast.
We are also doing takeaway bacon rolls every morning
- £3.50 for a fresh white roll with char
grilled bacon. Our coffee comes in takeaway form
too. |
|
Finally
a bit of a grovel... The Good Food Guide
is inviting the public to nominate their favourite
establishments in their area. Go to www.which.co.uk
and put in a vote for us. Go on you know you want
to. |
|
| Bon appetit |
