The 8 best child-friendly pubs in South London.
It would have been nice to have a list of the 10 best child-friendly
pubs in my part of London, but I just haven't found that
many and trust me, I've tried. In a selfless act, I've had
pints in dozens of locals, gastropubs and cute little out
of the way spots. So many of them pretend to child-friendliness
but the sharp corners, lack of outside space for little
wanderers and exasperated servers give them away.
So here are 8 tried-and-tested genuinely family-friendly
pubs.
The Victoria *BEST FOR FOOD* - What other
family-friendly pubs do, the Victoria does with particular
style. On the day we visited Chef Paul Merrett's pub in
Sheen, a staffer was decorating a stack of little paper
bags with gorgeous food-themed illustrations. When we sat
down our daughter was handed one, with crayons and pictures
to colour inside.
A chic conservatory sits next to a garden with outside
seating and a little play area with bark chips for soft
landings. The food is fabulous. In fact our only complaint:
charging £4 for a little pot of organic ice cream
means we'll skip it and grab a lolly in Richmond instead.
